So what is corrosion? Corrosion describes the deterioration of a material as it reacts with its environment. When used in reference to steel we call it ‘rust’.

A lot of energy goes into making steel out of raw materials, and as such it constantly wants to return back to its natural constituents to a more stable state (iron oxide – rust). Corrosion can be concentrated locally to form a pit or crack, or it can extend across a wide area, more or less uniformly corroding the surface.

There have been many studies into the global cost of corrosion, and it has been estimated to be approximately 3.4% – 4% of a country’s GDP! In Australia alone that would equate to roughly $32 Billion annually.

At CCA we recognise the potential cost savings for our clients with the implementation of an effective corrosion maintenance program.

To date our maintenance programs have created significant cost savings for our customers in ongoing maintenance/ repairs, unscheduled shutdowns/ loss of production, and potential safety incidents due to failed structures. In many cases we have given a new lease of life to machinery and structures that had effectively been ‘written off’.

CCA has NACE certified and industry experienced staff ready to take your corrosion enquiries, and provide you with a free corrosion survey on your plant and equipment. See our for our roofing consultancy services.
